Avoid placing your furniturte in direct sunlight.
-
Do not arrange your furniture so it is adjacent to heating or AC outlets.
-
Do not place plastic materials such as placemats and lamp bases on your furniture, as certain plastics contain ingredients that may react with and damage the finish.
-
Do not place furniture directly under windows.
-
Periodically rotate your accessories with proper felt or cloth backing, so they do not remain in the same spot for extended periods.
-
Remove objects from top when moving furniture, do not drag across the finish.
-
The use of protective padding is strongly recommended when using your furniture as a writing surface, especially when using a pencil or ballpoint pen.
-
Remember to clean up spills quickly. Water left over a prolonged period of time will cause white spots in the finish. Alcohol, nail polish, perfume, after-shave and medicines can cause severe finish damage.
-
Always dust frequently with a clean, soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Clean the surface by rubbing in the direction of the grain. Be sure to dry thoroughly. Then apply furniture polish. Polish your furniture approximately every six months with a clean, soft, lint-free absorbent cloth, rubbing the polish in the direction of the grain. We do not recommend polishes with silicone, due to the difficulty of removing residue should repair or refinishing of furniture become necessary.

'Pilling' is a characteristic of many upholstered fabrics that result in excess fiber coming off the surface of the material. This release of excess fiber results in small "balls" or "pills" of fiber forming on the surfaceof the cover. This condition is not warranted by the fabric mills because it is not seen to be a defect. It is simply excess material being released. This is similart to the fuzzing experiences with new cartpet, or the pilling of a new sweater.
-
The best treatment while this is happening is simply to shave the cover with a battery operated furniture or sweater shaver to remove the 'pills' and restore the look of the cover surface. This may need to be done 3-4 times, but the pilling on the surface will begin to diminish and ultimately stop.
-
Periodic vacuuming of your upholstered furniture is recommended.
-
Rotate and flip your cushions as this will help lengthen the life of your cushions.
